Collection Development Manager
Ian McDermott is the Collection Development Manager at ARTstor. He leads the process of acquiring and developing collections from various educational institutions, museums, photo archives, artists' studios and estates, and individual scholars in the United States and abroad for the ARTstor Digital Library and other ARTstor initiatives.
Prior to joining ARTstor, Ian was Assistant Librarian at the Yale Center for British Art Reference Library and Archives, and served as the 2007 Kress Fellow in Art Librarianship at the Yale Arts Library, where he focused on visual literacy initiatives. Previously, Ian served as Research Coordinator for the Education Department at The Andy Warhol Museum in Pittsburgh, PA. He currently serves as a Curriculum Specialist for the Summer Educational Institute for Visual Resources & Image Management, a joint program of the Art Libraries Society of North American and the Visual Resources Association Foundation. Additionally, Ian is the Membership Coordinator for New York Metropolitan Chapter of ARLIS/NA.
Ian received his MLIS from the University of Pittsburgh and a BFA in photography from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. He is currently pursuing an MA in Art History from Purchase College, SUNY.
