AW Asia has contributed nearly 90 images of the work of Chinese contemporary artist Ai Weiwei (b. 1957) to the Artstor Digital Library.

The images feature sculptures related to the artist’s project Circle of Animals/Zodiac Heads that is being exhibited in outdoor venues internationally on a world tour that began in 2010.

In Circle of Animals,  Ai Weiwei has reinterpreted the twelve bronze animal heads representing the traditional Chinese zodiac that once adorned the famed fountain-clock of the Yuanming Yuan, an imperial retreat in Beijing.

AW Asia is a private organization and exhibition space located in the Chelsea art district in New York City. AW Asia promotes the field of Chinese contemporary art through institutional loans and acquisitions, curatorial projects, publications, and educational programs.
